Officer Resigns after Moats Incident
Running back Ryan Moats ran a red light and was chased by authorities until he pulled into a hospital on March 18th. Moats was rushing to get to his mother-in-law who was dying in the hospital. Upon arrival Officer Powell pulled a gun on Moats and threatened him with jail time. Moats did not get to see his mother-in-law before she passed because of this. Officer Powell was put on the inactive list immediately and finally resigned April 1st. A public apology was issued by Powell and the Dallas Police Department on behalf of Moats and his family. Chief David Kunkle could not believe an officer on his unit acted in such a manner.
